It was a pretty positive spring for an organization that needed one, and although there were injuries, they won't lead to long-term absences. Casey Schmitt looks like he's just about ready. Blake Sabol and Johnson played so well that they'll make the team to fill in for injured veterans. The best development of the spring was the Giants starting to see that wall get taller. When you have an injury, you never feel good about it, but you at least (then will) feel like somebody could come up and you could be as good of a team with somebody filling in.' 'We're claiming guys off waivers and trying to fill gaps and I think what every organization wants is a group of five, 10, 15 guys who are the next line of defense. 'I think some of the challenges for us have been when the fill-ins have been a little bit of a revolving door,' Zaidi admitted. He'll have three 40-man roster spots to play with, but one will go to a catcher already in camp and another to young homegrown outfielder Bryce Johnson. The Giants are still diligently monitoring the other 29 rosters, of course, but Zaidi doesn't expect to make many, if any, moves as players opt out or get cut elsewhere. On Friday, Zaidi smiled and talked about how all is quiet in the front office's war room. He made a seemingly minor trade for Mike Yastrzemski and pored over the waiver wire, looking for upside but also depth.

Through Johnson's portrayal, audiences were won over by Josh's genuineness, and supported his decision to put aside football for the drama club and his forays into unpopular territory even when his girlfriend and best friend (Ron Lester) didn't. Johnson made the most of Josh's human weaknesses, giving the character a realistically resigned reaction to his unsupportive family and distracted girlfriend. He portrayed Josh as the oblivious nice guy, a hit on the social circuit who doesn't revel in so much as not notice the class structure of high school. Playing Josh Ford, a popular golden boy with a beautiful cheerleader girlfriend (Leslie Bibb), a coveted spot on the football team and seemingly perfect existence, Johnson brought added dimension to his character. Not long after, in 1999, he succeeded in his quest and made his screen debut in the MTV soap 'Undressed,' an at once steamy and silly program in the network's late night lineup. With only community college acting classes to his credit, he picked up odd jobs, acted in student films and enrolled at Pasadena's American Academy of Dramatic Arts. A blonde actor with All-American good looks and a charming screen presence, Bryce Johnson headed for Hollywood at age 19, determined to make it in show business.
